Nifecaine Cream may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Nifecaine Cream is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
Do not drive unless you are feeling well.Certain areas of your body will be numb for about 2-4 hours after having this medicine. This may affect your ability to drive.
Nifecaine Cream is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Nifecaine Cream may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.
Nifecaine Cream should be used with caution in patients with severe liver disease. Dose adjustment of Nifecaine Cream may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

How to use Lidocaine Topical
This medicine is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and apply the cream. Wash your hands after applying, unless hands are the affected area.
How Nifecaine Cream works
Lidocaine Topical works by blocking pain signals from the nerves to brain which decreases the sensation of pain.
Lidocaine belongs to a class of medications called as local anesthetics. It works by stopping the sensation of pain by acting on peripheral nerves in the body.

Avoid using higher quantity of lidocaine than recommended as this can cause serious side effects.
Do not apply lidocaine on open wounds or damaged areas (especially in mouth).

How Nifecaine Cream works
Nifedipine Topical works in anal fissure by blocking the action of calcium on blood vessels of anus. As a result, blood vessels are relaxed which allows fissure (tear) to heal and relieves pain.
Expert advice for Nifedipine Topical
It is very common to have dizziness, lightheadedness, swelling ankles/feet, flushing, or a headache as a side effect. To lower your risk of dizziness and lightheadedness, get up slowly when rising from a sitting or lying position. Inform your doctor if your symptoms do not improve or if it worsens (for example, your blood pressure readings remain high or increase, chest pain continues or worsens). Inform your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur: fast/irregular/pounding heartbeat, fainting. Use this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, take it at the same time each day. It is important to continue taking this medication even if you feel well. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose.
Q. Does nifedipine cause migraine/constipation/insomnia/bradycardia/cough/weight gain/urination/changes in heart rate?
Nifedipine topical may cause migraine, flushing, dizziness, nervousness, nausea, and vomiting. There is no evidence of nifedipine causing cough or weight changes. If you notice such symptoms, please consult your doctor.
Q. Is nifedipine topical a nitrate/beta-blocker/ACE inhibitor/tocolytic?
No. Nifedipine is a calcium channel blocker
